After enduring 7 years of living a competitive sporting life (3-4 years of club rugby in the UK & 3 years of Fencing), my body could no longer sustain the impact of sports. Actually, my physical body just didn't meet the professional requirements (under 6ft) and I had taken enough beatings from the professionals.
So here I am, formerly an experienced Finance professional (FP&A) and currently developing my skillset within the digital marketing world.
I've led teams in Finance and marketing departments in stabilising and creating processes, structure as well as developing my teams capabilities. After 2/3 years of experiencing leadership roles, I went to challenge myself with senior roles that involved financial planning & forecasting. Eventually, I took on the role where I was in charge of budgeting and monitoring Intel's Penang Manufacture factory.
Then, I explored the start-up life and culture with SelfDrvn & WebLITE.
Currently, I am a SEO Specialist with Searchguru in Kuala Lumpur.
April 2018 - Current
I help clients to improve their organic traffic to their website as well as increasing their position rank in search engines.
I do this through a website audit, keyword research, link-building, content research & implementation.

Finance Planning Analyst - Team Lead
November 2014 - July 2017
I was the team lead of 3 FPNA analysts covering month end activities from various business units (globally – USA, APAC & EMEA): inventory group, sales & marketing & factory finance teams. We started off initially with 14 processes but we grew the number of processes owned by Malaysia to over 50 under 2 years.
Part of my role was to:
1. Provide “value add” services – ie drive internal process efficiencies (~saved 10 hours of repetitive tasks across the business units)
2. Monitor the team’s progress towards our COE (Centre of Excellence) goal as well as addressing all team related performance and Finance processes issues
3. Lead the marketing activities approval process and budgeting tracking for APAC and EMEA regions to ensure the activities are executed in compliance
4. Provide BPM ownership of Intel’s Finance purchasing approvals.
Besides the usual Finance roles of job 1 & building my team’s capabilities, I also took part in other roles within the department, in what we call as “Technical Pillars”. I lead the “FPTI” pillar, known as Finance Path to Innovation. It was an interesting challenge to introduce finance quizzes, new reward schemes and “Oprah Winfrey” style talk shows to motivate the staff in order to produce process efficiencies for Malaysia finance.
I rotated within FPNA to support Penang’s Assembly & Test Group, which covered over ~1000 active personal. Here, I :-
1. Analysed & report on key business metrics & drivers, budgeting and presented the findings to senior management
2. Prepare and consolidate quarterly & yearly financial budget for Penang factory
3. Explore, coordinate & implement cost reduction strategies for the factory
4. Collaborated and worked with various engineering teams to develop financial forecasts, to monitor expenses and productivity improvement throughout the virtual factory community.

Our stall was recognized as a top 5 stall by the organizers (Team of Accountants!), with over 100 vendors in contention

Senior Finance Analyst
November 2013 - November 2014
I was part of the team which handled local statutory filling, audit process and performed complex account reconciliations for Hong Kong, Intel’s largest legal entity.
During the year, I was recognized and appreciated with the Department Award for supporting the Accounts Payable rebate R&R re-write process which resulted in enhancing control and effectiveness in the GIDs rebate support model and saved ~400 hours per year.
Besides these roles, I was tasked with monitoring the department’s resource allocation and present findings to senior management to assist in their hiring and resource allocation decisions between teams. With MacAfee integrating with Intel during the period, I assisted in developing a Resource Capacity Model to ensure the department has the right headcount to handle a smooth integration when the additional entities integrate with Intel.
Other tasks involved was with the treasury team which I performed confirmation matching and partnering Intel traders to liaise with bankers on treasury confirmations to ensure both sides are in compliance with regulations and terms. I also participated in the Buddy system to help new hires transition into Intel as well as volunteer events such as Eden Food Fair, Ride for Sight and Methodist Girls School Activities Day.
Independent Sales Contractor
June 2011 - September 2011
During my 2nd year University break, I took the challenge and flew to Tennessee for a sales internship experience in selling educational products. Once trained, I went to Orange County and sold in Loma Linda, San Bernadino and Redlands.
I had to be in charge of every aspect of the business. From finding my own accommodation all the way to ordering the products, inventory control, budgeting, accounting, scheduling and the delivery of the product.
Many stories can be told from this experience in which I cherish for life! An example was getting invited to many family food events and activities! Overall, I improved my communication after going over 2000 sales pitch. I also won awards for working consistently for 80 hours a week and meeting sales target.
It was a fun entrepreneurial and sales experience and being able to help many families that struggled to find solutions for their children's education.
