Hi there! Let me introduce myself.

I've been designing complex products and solutions to problems since I was seven years old. My first design was for a spaceship that, due to having to travel for long periods through space, would have to be self-sustaining. Many years later, in 2007, I saw a science-fiction validation of the same design on the Icarus I and II in the movie Sunshine.

I don't design spaceships anymore (I have plans for a satellite. Enquire within.) as these days I mostly design products and solutions that will benefit me (benefiting the rest of humanity is just a nice side effect). I tend to gravitate towards designs for Fintech, Insurtech, Wealthtech and Agritech and my designs usually incorporate Big Data, AI & ML, Blockchain or IoT in some way.

I'm fueled by good coffee, cake and Nando's. I particularly enjoy esoteric conversations about things I probably don't know enough about to argue about them the way I do.

I currently work as the Head of Strategy & Innovation at TERAS Teknologi, a PLUS company. We design, develop and build complex and comprehensive solutions for the highway and mobility industries. My work here is heavily involved with R&D, Software and Hardware Development, Product Design & Strategy. I also dabble in video analytics using AI and ML and my future roadmap here at TERAS involves fintech, blockchain, ML and actionable data analytics among others.

I'm also an Enterprise and Technical Architect with a passion for tech startups. I love listening to new ideas and putting my years of experience in IT and business into helping new entrepreneurs and founders avoid the long list of common technology pitfalls one encounters on the journey to scaling up. I'm looking to spend some time over the next year coaching and mentoring tech startups on how to incorporate best-in-class enterprise and technology architectures in their product, solution or platform designs.

In my spare time I've founded a new startup in the digital payments and banking space and am currently looking for 15% equity seed funding based on a pre-money valuation of 13 million ringgit.

This role requires me to have a good grasp of both technology and business concepts, allowing me to develop business strategy with other business units, based on the technology strategy developed within the Strategy & Innovation division.

Departments within Strategy & Innovation include Development, Technical Design, DevOps, Digital Payments and Data Analytics with about 50 employees either directly or indirectly reporting to me.

In the past year, I have worked closely with my team to challenge, modernise and change their way of working. We've gone from silos to Git, from on-prem to cloud and from monoliths to microservices. I'm very proud of the progress that the team has made and I hope to continue changing and improving things here at TERAS.

At the moment, the bulk of my work consists of technical architecture, and standardisation for new programmes and projects and in productisation of new commercial products.

I currently also head the Strategy and Innovation department, and work across R&D, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, Design, Architecture and AI. My job is pretty fun, and never boring.

Technology Lead and Point of Escalation for all DevOps resources. Focal Point for all technology related to the Private Cloud Shared Platform and its customer Offerings, including Skype For Business, Microsoft Exchange and Sharepoint, Citrix VDI and Mobility and PC-as-a-Service.

Helped to raise the level of understanding and ability on Cloud Computing with Public, Private and Hybrid Clouds across my team, assisting with training and development where needed. Built an effective channel of communication between the Cloud team in Australia and the local team in Malaysia. I also designed and assisted in the build of a private cloud for proof of concept and demonstration purposes.

I draw heavily on my previous experience as CEO and CTO for Octopus Malaysia, where I assisted clients with designing and developing solutions that fit their technical needs while keeping their core business in mind.

Founded and runs an online store selling original t-shirt designs. Developed brand strategy, vision and mission, plans for growth. Also built social media strategy on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to capture larger audiences and raise sales figures. Planned, established and managed Facebook advertising campaigns for audience growth as well as sales. Able to attain advertising relevance scores of 7/10 and above on Facebook’s ad platform. Through these methods and a self-developed SEO profile on the store website, saw month on month sales growth of 50% to 80%.

Led the Board of Directors in Strategy, Operations and Sales. Was responsible for putting company culture in place, developing HR policies, and creating internal processes for operations and future growth. Steered vision and created and pushed towards goals. Worked closely with our CFO to develop a sustainable budget for all group business.

Doubled as CTO, pursued and secured important partnerships with leading IT vendors. Developed internal IT processes and services. Tested and acquired new technology for use in company products and services, then assimilated important information on new technology to our marketing and sales teams. Was in charge of internal procurement and responsible for planning and building the internal datacenter from the ground up. Reviewed and deployed all systems for our XaaS suite of services.

Took on the roles of Business Development, Marketing and Sales and was directly responsible for over MYR800,000 in sales in our second year alone.

Added to prior experience, deploying Windows Server, Active Directory and Communication and Collaboration technology, including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Lync and Blackberry Enterprise Server. Also gained experience in hybrid deployments and private and public cloud infrastructure.
